Birds are ZW, not XY. The hen decides each chick's sex and the cock decides every daughter's sex-linked colour — which is why a cinnamon hen paired with a normal cock produces no cinnamon chicks at all.

What "split" means in conure genetics
Split means a green-cheeked conure carries a colour gene it does not show. You cannot see it, only two things prove it, and hens cannot be split to cinnamon or yellow-sided at all.
