About
About LunarKiri
A small, independent project built around one bird and the realisation that most of what a new conure owner needs is scattered across forums, half of it wrong.
A company with a name on it
LunarKiri is made by VANA Digital SRL, a Romanian company. The full registration details are in the Impressum, and the same details identify the data controller for the privacy policy.
A bird with a name on it
Kiri is a parent-raised Moon Cheek green-cheek, one nail short, learning to trust at his own pace. The palette you are looking at is his: cream, moon-yellow, and the blue of a night sky.
One species, on purpose
Everything here is written for the green-cheeked conure rather than for parrots in general. Advice for “parrots” fits every bird a little and yours not at all.
The method
How an entry earns its place
The same five steps, whether it is one food or a whole chapter.
A claim is found
A food someone swears by, a plant sold as bird-safe, a trick from a forum thread.
It is checked against the shelf
Merck, LafeberVet, the AAV, VCA, the World Parrot Trust — the references vets actually use.
It gets a verdict in plain words
Safe, caution, dangerous — or unknown, which is also an answer. Where evidence is thin, the entry says so instead of picking a side.
It is published with its source
Every entry links the reference it came from, on the site and in the app.
It stays correctable
Corrections from readers are the most useful mail this project gets.
The shelf
The references behind the verdicts
21 veterinary sources are cited across the reference — these are the bodies they come from.
- Merck Veterinary Manual
- LafeberVet
- Association of Avian Veterinarians
- VCA Animal Hospitals
- World Parrot Trust
Where two sources disagree, the pages follow the more cautious one. Every entry links its own source — check any of them. Open the care reference.
Written once, checked, then translated
Every chapter lives in one English base that carries the structure, with a translated overlay per language — so a correction lands everywhere at once, and no language drifts out of date on its own.
No thin pages
A language ships complete or it does not ship at all.
No silent fallbacks
A missing translation stops the site build instead of quietly publishing English under a Romanian address. The generators enforce that promise on every run — it is not a habit, it is a refusal.
On purpose
What it deliberately does not do
It does not diagnose
It will not tell you your bird is fine. It shows what healthy looks like, and the moment to stop reading and call a vet. The care disclaimer says it in full.
No third-party anything
No ad scripts, no trackers, no vendor analytics. Usage is counted on our own server, without cookies — see the privacy policy.
It asks for almost nothing
An email address for an account, plus whatever bird information you choose to record. Reading the safety content needs no account at all.
It does not paywall safety
The free app carries everything. The optional supporter program unlocks cosmetic themes — including one you build yourself, colour by colour — and nothing else.
It is not funded by ads
The owner pays for it. Any affiliate relationship is disclosed on the page where it appears, per the terms.
It stays correctable
Corrections to the safety content are the most useful thing you can send: hello@lunarkiri.com.
On camera
Owners, in their own words
No recordings exist yet — these tiles show the layout that will hold them.
An “unknown” verdict is a real answer, and the app treats it as one.
The rule the whole reference is built on.
The most useful thing you can send is a correction
Spotted something wrong, or something missing? That is the mail we most want.
